There are thousands of diet supplements on the market. More are being added each day. What is in these things? As European tests have revealed, some of the unlisted ingredients in a few diet supplements were actually hormones.
Make no mistake -- hormones are dangerous if taken without a doctor’s supervision. You see, the body has an amazing ability to detect and regulate the blood level of hormones. When the body detects that the level of a particular hormone is lower than expected it sends a signal to the corresponding gland to produce more of these hormones. Alternately, when the body detects an increased hormone level, it sends the opposite signal to the gland. Please stop producing hormones -- I've got enough!
By taking hormones externally you risk having your body shut down its natural production of that hormone. Your body then becomes dependent upon the external hormone.
Besides that, many supplements include chemical additives such as artificial flavorings, preservatives, heavy metals, etc.
The bottom line here is if you don’t know the brand of supplement, or if you aren’t familiar with an ingredient in the formula, then please don’t take it! Do your research, and always consult your trusted physician!
